2nd Edition of the Canadian Mining Mission to Uzbekistan

Tashkent, September 24- 26, 2017

Please provide indication of interest by: August 31st, 2017

Dear CERBA Members and Friends,

CERBA is happy to share information on a Canadian mining trade mission to Tashkent, Uzbekistan from September 24 to 26, 2017, organized by the Canadian Embassy to Russia in collaboration with Export Quebec and the Canada Eurasia Russia Business Association (CERBA).

This a follow-up mission to a quite successful one held in March 2017 following which Canadian companies were able to participate in tenders valued at US$ 3.5M and establish a presence in Uzbekistan. The mission will focus again on business opportunities in the Uzbek mining sector. Uzbekistan has large mineral reserves, the most notable minerals are gold, copper and uranium, but also coal, and requires competitive mining equipment and services. Under the leadership of its new administration Uzbekistan is gradually reforming its economy to make it more competitive and freer for foreign companies to do business in.

The Canadian Embassy is again working closely with the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and local industry stakeholders to maximize networking and business opportunities for Canadian participants. The mission format will consist in a two-day program, with a possible site visit. Canadian participants will have the chance to meet and present their products, technologies and/or services to decision-makers from the three major gold mining companies Almalyk Mining Corporation (AGMK), Navoi Mining Corporation (NGMK) and UzbekUgol as well as from the Committee on Geology and Mineral Resources of Uzbekistan responsible for mineral exploration.

Given the lead time required to secure B2B meetings, reserve hotel accommodation in Tashkent and apply for visas, we would appreciate receiving a response by cob Thursday August 31st on your intention to participate in this mining mission to Uzbekistan. If interested in participating, we would also kindly request that you please fill the PROFILE (in English and Russian if possible) in order to ensure that the mission program fits your needs.

Also, please keep in mind that Canadian citizens visiting Uzbekistan need to apply for a visa. We made sure the process is as simple as possible by agreeing with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan that the members of our delegation will get their visas directly at the airport in Tashkent. To benefit from this streamlined application process, the Canadian Embassy need to submit in advance a firm and final list of our delegation with supporting documentation by early September. Therefore, if you intend on participating we kindly request you to confirm the names of representatives participating from your company and send us scanned copies of their passports by cob Thursday August 31st.
