The CERBA-Vancouver Board of Directors is pleased to invite CERBA members and friends to a breakfast seminar featuring guests from Bennett Jones who will present on the Extractive Sector Transparency Measures Act (ESTMA) and provide an update to the Canadian sanctions in relation to Russia and Iran. Nick Bryanskiy, a regulatory lawyer with Bennett Jones in Calgary, will talk about the most recent changes with respect to Russia and Iran, and how Canadian companies could benefit from the existing and new opportunities while minimizing their risk exposure. Nick will also explain how to run due diligence on potential business partners, projects or transactions in Russia. The discussion on ESTMA will focus around requirements in the context of mining and upstream oil and gas; reporting process; applicable thresholds and timelines; and key challenges and issues ahead.
