RUSSIAN VISAS FOR THE CANADA RUSSIA BUSINESS SUMMIT JUNE 22-23, 2009
Non-Russian
participants in the Canada-Russia Business Summit will need a visa to
travel to Russia. Application forms as well as information about
requirements, the list of documents that need to be submitted to the
Russian authorities, related fees and timelines are available on the
following website: Embassy of the Russian Federation in Ottawa: www.rusembcanada.mid.ru (select “Visa Information” in the middle of the page and then the link for a business visa) To
facilitate and expedite the visa process, we reached the following
agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian
Federation:
- You will notice that as part of the
documentation that needs to be provided to the Embassy of the Russian
Federation is a letter of invitation from a Russian accredited
organization or a “visa support/telex number” (normally a number issued
by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs). An original copy of the
letter invitation or the “visa support/telex number” will not/not be
required to apply for your visa application this time.
- All other required documentation will need to be submitted to the
Embassy of the Russian Federation in Ottawa only, not/not to the
consulates of the Russian Federation located in Montreal and in
Toronto. To avoid complications, please write on the top of the pile of
documents: “Participant in the Canada-Russia Business Summit, Moscow,
June 22-23”
- Information indicated in red in the form on page 2 is mandatory.
Should you have any concerns with respect to this mandatory
information, please contact annie.lirette@international.gc.ca
- You must ensure that the information provided in the form on
page 2 is the same as the one you will be providing in your visa
application form. Any differences will complicate the process.
- Please wait until May 27 before submitting all necessary
documentation for your visa application at the Russian Embassy in
Ottawa. This will give us time to share the information that you will
be providing to us with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the
Russian Embassy in Ottawa, as we were requested to.
Due to the
short timeline and delays and to limit last minute problems, we
strongly recommend that you apply for your visa as soon as possible
after May 27. The process for people applying with a non-Canadian
passport may be longer.
